Santa is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Santa the legendary bringer of gifts at Christmas . He is generally depicted as a fat, jolly man with a white beard, dressed in a red suit trimmed with white, and driving a sleigh full of toys drawn through the air by eight reindeer. WHERE DID SANTA BEGIN? The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships. He died December 6, AD 343 in Myra and was buried in his cathedral church.

Roman War Tactics

The Tortoise
There are five tactics I will mention in this article the first is the The Tortoise. The front line of
soldiers held their Shields out in front of them and all the others held their Shields above them basically creating a shell like armor thus shielding them against missiles from the front or above.

Repel Calvary
The order to repel cavalry brought about a the following formation. The first rank would form a firm wall with their shields, only their pila/throwing spear protruding, forming a vicious line of glistening spearheads ahead of the wall of shields. A horse, however well trained, could hardly be brought to break through such a barrier. The second rank of the infantry would then use its spears to drive off any attackers whose horses came to a halt.

The Orb

The orb is a defensive position in the shape of a circle taken by a unit in desperate straits. It allows for a reasonably effective defence even if parts of an army have been divided in battle and would have required a very high level discipline by the individual soldiers.

Skirmishing Formation

The skirmishing formation was a widely spaced line up of troops, as opposed to the tighter packed battle ranks so typical of legionary tactics. It allowed for greater mobility and would have found many uses in the tactical handbooks of Roman generals.

The wedge

The wedge was commonly used by attacking legionaries, - legionaries formed up in a triangle, the front 'tip' being one man and pointing toward the enemy, - this enabled small groups to be thrust well into the enemy and, when these formations expanded, the enemy troops were pushed into restricted positions, making hand-to-hand fighting difficult. This is where the short legionary gladius was useful, held low and used as a thrusting weapon, while the longer Celtic and Germanic swords became impossible to wield.

Lechuguilla Cave

Lechuguilla cave was discovered in 1986, when cavers dug open a hole in a long known depression near Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico, which was long ago mined for salpeter. Little did they know, that they opened one of the most beautiful caves in the world. 150km. of amazing cave has been found and it is the fifth longest cave in the world. Until it was found in 1986 it was left untouched by most life. This preserved the true nature of the cave completely. To continue to keep this cave in the state in which they found it they do not allow public entrance and those lucky research scientists who do get in the cave are required to wear special clothing and have other such restraints while in the cave. The cave is formed in a way only a few caves in the world have been formed. Basically a crack in the earth is carved out by sulphuric acid solutions. Then the host rock lime stone is dissolved and deposited by slightly carbonated water. Lechuguilla however has formations like no others GIANT CRYSTALS of gypsum and aragonite as well as amazing calcite formations. As well as formations ROCK EATING BACTERIA have been discovered. Check this site out! " Lechuguilla."
